I’m about half way through my month of no meat and so far I have not succumbed to temptation but it’s hard. Mostly hard to remember ‘not’ to eat meat, especially this weekend where I have had a few meals out at restaurants and I automatically go to the meat dishes first and then I’m like ‘oh, no meat for me!’ and then I choose something else. Unfortunately some of those choices have not necessarily been the most health conscious and I need to empower myself to order meals how I want them – example, last night I had a fish meal – the fish was crumbed and grilled so it was fairly healthy but it also came with fries, tartare sauce, and a salad. To make it the healthiest I could I should have asked for no fries or tartare and asked for a side of grilled tomatoes and an egg. I guess this is all part of the learning process.
However, just because I am not eating meat does not mean there has been no meat in the house as Mr 8 is a meat eater and I can tell you cooking him his dinner has been hard! The smell is so delicious and I can’t wait to tuck into a good ol’ steak at the end of the month, but in the meantime I am down 2.8kgs for the first two weeks however I’m not sure I can contribute that directly to the no meat as I am also VLCD again to bust through this plateau I am on.
Next recipe make over is next weekend and I think it’s going to be one of Nigella’s. I’m doing some research now and will no doubt make myself very hungry lol.
Enjoy your Sunday!
