The next CD story features Amber Caskey and Little River Band. Amber has chosen some sage advice for her message;
If you want to change the system, you better build a better one. You’re going to meet resistance but the time will come.
Like many of us Amber wears many hats, she’s a wife, a mum, sister-in-law to my horse trainer, Janelle (who will also feature in CD Stories), and a second-generation marriage celebrant.
I haven’t known Amber long, but she is one of those people who has a very special vibe. She doesn’t take any shit, is sensible and intelligent, kind and caring, and definitely someone you want in your squad.
I love that she chose Little River Band for her CD. If you grew up in New Plymouth in the 70s and 80s you would more than likely have seen this band play at the Bowl of Brooklands, our fabulous natural amphitheatre, at least once, if not several times. They were frequent performers.
These concerts, along with those of Split Enz, and a few other multiple performers were a bit of a rite of passage for many of us, as often it was an opportunity to attend with parents and then take off with friends, hang out with boys, and then head back to the safety of the home zone, or as we hit teenage years we could attend without parents at all!
I’d have to say that Cool Change is one of my favourite songs off this album, and I think it ties in nicely with Amber’s words. Change is someone that many of us fear and yet we change everyday, sometimes in small ways and sometimes in big ways, but it all helps us grow into the people we are today.
Little River Band was definitely part of that growth and change for me.
Great choice Amber xx
