The third CD story is about Margy Dodds and Tina Turner.
I have to say I’m loving the random order the CDs are coming out of the box in, means I don’t know who I’m blogging about next.
Anyway, back to Margy and Tina. Margy is a friend of my mum, and has known me my entire life. Mum and Margy lived next to each other when I was a baby. Mum’s daughters (me and my sister) grew up with Margy’s daughters. We have a lifetime of memories.
Margy has chosen a poem which was mentioned in the book ‘Big Little Lies’, written by Liane Moriarty. The author of the original poem appears to be unknown, and this phrase is often mention as funerals for obvious reasons;
Those we love don’t go away, they sit beside us every day.
I’ve just finished watching the TV Series and I know have the book on my ‘need to read’ list.
Marg has written the poem on the Tina Turner album What’s Love Got To Do With It. I bought this album because I love Tina, she has such a wicket voice, and she’s such a strong inspiring woman. Her husband was, let’s face it, a bit of an arse, but she knew her self worth, she left Ike in the dust, and has been winning at life every since.
There are plenty of great songs on this album Nutbush City Limits, Proud Mary, and (Darlin) You Know I Love You, but the title song has got to be my favourite.
What has love got to do with it?
Great album choice Margy, and great poem xx
